The announcement that Ukraine has taken note of the plan comes after a meeting with a US military delegation led by Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll in Kiev on Thursday.
The Ukrainians say they want to "work on the points of the plan to ensure a dignified end to the war," writes AFP.
"We are now ready to work constructively with the American side and our partners in Europe and around the world to achieve peace," President Volodymyr Zelensky's office said in a statement.
Zelensky is also expected to speak with US President Donald Trump by phone in the coming days.
"We are ready for constructive, honest and urgent work," Zelenskyy wrote on social media.
The content of the Russian-American peace plan, which has been leaked to several media outlets, is being criticized for more or less implying a Ukrainian capitulation. Among other things, it proposes major land concessions, a halt to certain weapons, a demand for Russian as the official language in Ukraine, and a reduction of the Ukrainian army by more than half.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed for the first time the plan's existence, saying that US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Secretary of State Marco Rubio have been quietly working on it for the past month. The work is "ongoing and evolving."
"But the president supports this plan. It's a good plan for both Russia and Ukraine, and we believe it should be acceptable to both sides," Leavitt said at a press conference, according to AFP.
According to Leavitt, the United States is having "good conversations" with both Ukraine and Russia.
