The initiatives, which Sida has decided on based on a program established by the National Board of Health and Welfare, are part of a three-year support package totaling SEK 129.5 million for the period 2025-2027.
- Ukrainian healthcare and welfare are under extreme pressure, Minister of Social Affairs Jakob Forssmed (KD) said at a press conference about the efforts, adding that, according to the UN, there have been 36 Russian attacks on hospitals this year alone.
The efforts involve knowledge transfer, in both directions, on how healthcare can function during emergencies and in states of war. They involve combating antibiotic resistance, and also focus on family-based care for young people in social services and on elderly care.
