Just three weeks after Ukraine was allowed to open its first of six so-called negotiation clusters with the EU, the second was also opened on Tuesday - now on issues surrounding defence and security.
The same applies to Moldova, while Montenegro and Albania, in turn, have more of their negotiation chapters closed, showing that they have done what is required in various areas.
The rapid pace of negotiations means that the next EU enlargement is getting closer, although it remains unclear when.
I feel pretty sure that we will have a number of new member states, but exactly when we will have to come back to, says EU Minister Jessica Rosencrantz (M) on site in Brussels.
