The Russian soldier, who belonged to the country's military police, was captured by the Ukrainian army in the Zaporizhia region.
In a post on Telegram, Ukraine's Chief Prosecutor Ruslan Kravchenko calls the extradition, which is the first of its kind, "historic."
The Russian soldier is accused of war crimes. He is suspected of participating in, among other things, torture and inhumane treatment of civilians and prisoners of war.
One of the victims is a citizen of Lithuania, according to Kravchenko.
A court in Vilnius has decided that the soldier will be detained for at least three months while awaiting trial.
