"The Iranian regime uses criminal gangs around the world to threaten people. The UK is targeting the criminal network and its leader Rawa Majid due to their involvement in violence against Jewish and Israeli targets in Europe, on behalf of Iran," says the country's Foreign Minister David Lammy in a statement.

The sanctions include, among other things, the freezing of Majid's and the network's British assets and a travel ban for Majid.

A month ago, similar sanctions were imposed by the USA.

"From a Swedish perspective, we view positively the steps recently taken by the USA and now by the UK, which mean that key players in the networks can be disrupted and prevented from continuing their criminal activities. The UK's decision to impose sanctions on a key Swedish actor can contribute to further strengthening the authorities' operational work," says Justice Minister Gunnar Strömmer in an email to TT.
