UK Equips Fighter Jets with Nuclear Weapons in Major Defense Boost

”The purchase represents the largest strengthening of the UK's nuclear position in a generation”, writes Downing Street in a statement.

The fighter jets can carry both conventional weapons and nuclear weapons and the capability will be part of Nato's common strategy for nuclear deterrence.

Since the end of the Cold War, the UK's nuclear arsenal has so far been based solely on armed submarines.

”The UK's commitment to Nato is undisputed, as is the alliance's contribution to keeping the UK safe and secure, but we must all strive to protect the Euro-Atlantic area for future generations", says Keir Starmer according to the statement.
