The death toll has been revised down from 90, as previously reported. Rescue workers are now intensively searching for the two missing workers in the Liushenyu mine in Shanxi province, where hundreds of miners were at the time of the explosion on Friday evening, local time.

More than half of the workers were not registered properly before entering the mine, and an investigation is underway into serious safety violations. Authorities have also arrested a person responsible at the company operating the mine.
