Four people were traveling in the boat that capsized on the river about five miles northwest of Sollefteå on Sunday. A man in his 40s has been rescued and a boy under 15 years was found in the water during the evening but died later at the hospital.

Two men in their 40s and 30s, respectively, are still missing.

The Fjällsjö river has stronger currents than natural waterways because Vattenfall's hydroelectric power plant by the river results in faster emptying and filling. The state-owned Vattenfall will now conduct its own investigation to see if the accident could have been prevented, the newspaper reports.

We have signs that warn but we cannot have signs and buoys everywhere, there is a system for well-chosen places. But now we have to review the site and see what the investigation says, says Yvonne Björnström, technical manager at Vattenfall.

At the same time, the search for the missing men is ongoing.

We have been searching for them since the accident occurred, says police spokesperson Marie Andersson to TT.
