The two people, who live in the UK, were arrested at the airbase’s security perimeter and are suspected of trespassing.

The arrest took place at RAF Molesworth after a security patrol spotted an abandoned vehicle on Wednesday evening.

Counter-terrorism police are investigating the incident but are not currently linking it to the investigation into the incident at RAF Fairford, where five British citizens were arrested in late September. They were initially suspected of planning terrorist acts but have since been released on bail. Additional people have also been arrested in connection with the incident.

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has suggested that the case at Fairford may be linked to Iran.
