Six people have been killed, two of them children, in Russian attacks on Ukraine during the night towards Wednesday. More than 20 people have been injured, reports The Kyiv Independent.

"Ordinary cities have been under fire, mainly our energy infrastructure, but many residential buildings have also been affected", writes President Volodymyr Zelenskyj on X.

According to Kyiv's mayor Vitali Klitjko, the capital was hit by a drone attack early in the morning, which, among other things, caused damage to residential buildings.

Attacks are also reported from at least three other regions, including Zaporizhzhia where several are said to have been injured. In Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine, children are said to be among the injured after Russian drone attacks.

According to The Kyiv Independent, Ukraine's army staff claims that on Tuesday evening, they attacked a chemical plant in the Russian region of Bryansk north of Ukraine. The plant, which is said to be an important part of Russia's military industrial sector, manufactures gunpowder, explosives, missile fuel, and ammunition.

British-made Storm Shadow missiles are said to have been used in the attack on Bryansk.
