Linn Gestblom and Henning Sjökvist take two of the three remaining spots on the Swedish biathlon squad for the Olympics. The last one? "It will be announced later," says Fredrik Joulamo, sports director at the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK).

Together with the Swedish Biathlon Association, SOK has agreed to hold the final selection until after this week's World Cup competitions in Nove Mesto, Czech Republic.

Anna-Karin Heijdenberg and Johanna Skottheim look set to be the biathletes who will compete for Olympic spots.

Linn Gestblom is thus getting hers now. The 31-year-old was part of the Swedish gold medal team in the 2022 Olympic relay and followed that up with two individual World Cup medals the following year. After a couple of seasons of shoulder problems, she made a comeback in the World Cup this winter.

"Linn is important in an Olympic squad as an alternative in a relay team," says Fredrik Joulamo in a press release.

Henning Sjökvist, 28, is making his Olympic debut. He takes the final men's spot.

“He has achieved great results in pressured situations and has emerged as a good relay alternative,” says Joulamo.
