At least three of the arrested were journalists, according to a trade union.

Still on Sunday evening, 47 people were deprived of their freedom.

A heavy police presence prevented the participants from gathering several times, and the parade was forced to change location several times.

The regime will not be able to maintain power by demonizing LGBTQ people, said Member of Parliament Kezban Konukcu from the DEM party, who participated in the parade.

The Pride parade in Istanbul, which previously gathered tens of thousands of participants, has been banned since 2015.
