As a result of a blocked budget, the US government has been shut down for over a month, which meant that funding for the federal program that pays out food stamps to those in need – who make up just over 12 percent of the US population – expired on Saturday.
However, after two federal judges recently ruled that the government had to continue paying out food stamps, the Trump administration said yesterday that the payments would be made using reserve funds.
But that no longer appears to be the case, according to a post on Truth Social by Trump, where he writes that the food stamp program will be resumed "only when the radical left Democrats reopen the government, which they can easily do, and not before then!"
