The triumphal arch that U.S. President Donald Trump wants to build in Washington, D.C., is said to be significantly taller than both the White House and the Lincoln Memorial.

The Arc de Triomphe - jokingly called the 'Trump Arch' in some media - is intended to be erected for the United States' 250th anniversary on July 4 this year.

Real estate magnate Trump wants to build the Golden Arches on a small plot of land below Arlington National Cemetery, in front of the bridge that crosses the Potomac River to the National Mall, where the Lincoln Memorial stands.

The land is federally owned and no building permit has yet been issued, The Washington Post reports. But the president has settled on building the largest version: 250 feet, which is just over 76 meters, according to the newspaper.

For comparison, the White House is 21 meters high and the Lincoln Memorial is just over 30 meters. The Arc de Triomphe in Paris, Trump's source of inspiration, is 50 meters.
