Five Canadian teams have made it to the Stanley Cup playoffs: Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Winnipeg, and Edmonton. Three of them (Montreal, Winnipeg, and Edmonton) will face American teams in the first playoff round.
However, there are divided opinions on whether there will be any away games.
The reason is the customs and annexation threats directed at the country by US President Donald Trump.
"Not right"
Some who have chosen not to travel across the border to watch the matches are Montreal supporter Sunil Peetush and his family.
It didn't feel right for us as Canadians. It feels a bit like we're betraying our country, he says, and emphasizes that it doesn't get better with Montreal facing Washington in the eighth round, where Trump's administration is seated.
Earlier, David Eby, the premier of the Canadian province of British Columbia, has also said that Canadians should avoid traveling to the USA.
"The exact opposite of being patriotic"
One who, on the other hand, plans to travel to support his team is Jack Gurevitch, also a Montreal fan.
This despite his family advising him against it.
I shared my opinion with my sister, and then she just said: "Absolutely not. Don't go to the USA in these times. It's the exact opposite of being patriotic and a good Canadian", he says and continues:
But I don't agree.
Another who plans to travel is Edmonton supporter Jason Reboh.
There's a lot happening in our country that I can't control. If I were to start choosing who deserves my money and who doesn't, it would be dangerous.
