The agreement would mean that Tiktok, which according to a decision by the US Supreme Court is to be shut down in the country due to security concerns, would get an American version with a majority owner from the USA.
The deal is said to have been very close to being implemented, according to the news agency's source. But Trump's decision to add 34-percent tariffs on Chinese imports has sparked anger in Beijing, which has also responded by imposing an equally large percentage on American goods.
On Friday, Trump also announced that the deadline for finding American owners for Tiktok has been extended by another 75 days. If no agreement is reached, the popular app can be shut down in the country, in accordance with the court decision.
