"No nukes," Trump writes in capital letters on social media - likely referring to Iran's controversial nuclear energy program.
The naval fleet is led by the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln. It is larger than the one sent to Venezuela, according to the president.
“Ready and capable”
"As in Venezuela, it is ready, willing and able to quickly carry out its mission," Trump writes, urging Iran to negotiate a deal that is good for all parties involved.
“Time is running out, it's really urgent,” he adds.
Trump refers to the US military action against Iran this summer. He claims that it followed Iran's refusal to make "a deal."
“The next attack will be much worse!”
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also issued a warning to Tehran, saying that "the regime's days are numbered," according to AFP.
Iran responded via a statement from the country's UN delegation, in which Tehran threatened strong retaliation in the event of a military attack.
"Iran is ready for a dialogue based on mutual respect and common interests," writes Iran's UN delegation on X, followed by a warning written in capital letters: "If we are pressured, Iran will defend itself and respond like never before."
China warns at the UN of "military endangerment" in Iran:
"Any military adventurism will only push the region into an abyss of unpredictability," China's UN ambassador Fu Cong said in the Security Council.
Kristersson: Risks
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) emphasizes the importance of “standing on the side of all Iranians right now who want to get rid of this regime.” At the same time, he warns of the potential consequences given the tense situation that prevails.
"There are lots of risks; it's incredibly complicated. There are enormous risks in keeping things as they are right now, but there are also great risks that it will become a country in complete decline and a situation almost like a civil war," Kristersson tells TT.
Iran has been rocked by protests in recent weeks, during which the internet has been shut down and thousands of activists have been killed, according to exile organizations.
Donald Trump has threatened to take action against the regime in Tehran over the violence used against protesters. The US military has previously announced that it will conduct a multi-day exercise in the Middle East, led by the Air Force.
