During a speech at the Republican convention in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, the president began by reiterating that his economic policies have led to lower prices for Americans.
The speech was largely reminiscent of the televised address he gave to the nation earlier this week, in which he highlighted the achievements of his administration during his time as president. Lower prices for eggs and gasoline, reduced inflation and higher wages were among the successes he highlighted.
He also took, as he has claimed before, pharmaceutical prices as an example. A 100 percent reduction would bring them down to zero, but he claims to have succeeded even better:
"I have reduced prices on medicines by as much as 400, 500 and even 600 percent," he said in the speech.
Trump also attacked the Affordable Care Act (ACA), better known as "Obamacare", referring to it as "Barack Hussein Obamacare", referring to the former president's middle name.
The Republican convention in North Carolina was the second such event Trump has attended recently, seen as a sign that he is concerned about declining approval ratings, which are in turn affected by, among other things, the controversies surrounding the Epstein documents and the government shutdown this fall.
