The Ukrainian President Zelenskyj says that he is still ready to have a "constructive dialogue" with the USA – but emphasizes after Sunday's top meeting with European leaders that he sees clear European support.
All are united on the main issue – for peace to become real, we need real security guarantees, says the President in a speech published on X.
However, in the White House, another statement was noticed, where Zelenskyj said that a peace with Russia "is still very, very far away".
"Not great"
This made President Donald Trump furious:
"It's the worst statement (he) could have made", writes Trump and threatens that his patience is running out.
"It's what I've been saying all the time, this guy doesn't want peace as long as he has the USA's and Europe's support, and Europe said in the meeting with Zelenskyj that they can't do the job without the USA".
"Maybe not a great statement to make if you want to show strength towards Russia. What were they thinking?", he concludes.
That Zelenskyj also said on Sunday that Ukraine "of course understands how important the USA is" he doesn't comment on.
We are grateful for all the support we have received from the USA. There hasn't been a day when we haven't been grateful, said the Ukrainian.
Trump: No worry about Putin
Earlier on Monday, Donald Trump wrote that the USA should worry less about Russia's President Vladimir Putin.
"We should spend less time worrying about Putin, and more time worrying about immigrant rapist gangs, drug barons, murderers, and people from mental institutions who come into our country – so that we don't become like Europe!", writes Trump on his platform Truth social.
