In the United States, children of foreign citizens can obtain American citizenship if they are born in the country, a policy the Trump administration has opposed. However, the Supreme Court recently blocked an attempt to change this.
"The Supreme Court's ruling is wrong. I will immediately request a retrial," Trump writes on his Truth Social platform.
A request for reconsideration is very rarely granted and must be filed within 25 days of a decision.
