President Trump's outburst about the mineral agreement came at a press conference after he had accused Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj of not wanting peace just hours earlier.
Since the two presidents' chaotic meeting on Friday, when they got into a long and heated argument in front of the cameras, Trump has repeatedly accused Zelenskyj of sabotaging the American proposal for a ceasefire in Ukraine.
Trump's security adviser Mike Waltz repeated these accusations and threats on Fox News on Tuesday.
We need to hear from President Zelenskyj that he is sorry for what happened (on Friday), that he is ready to sign a mineral agreement, and that he is ready for peace talks. I don't think that's too much to ask.
Trump himself said at his press conference that "it shouldn't be at all difficult" to get a mineral agreement, and indirectly threatened Zelenskyj as he continued to talk about a potential peace agreement.
Maybe there's someone who doesn't want to get an agreement, and if someone doesn't want that, that person will probably not be around for much longer. No one will listen to that person anymore, because I think Russia wants to get an agreement.
Waltz, like Trump, says he doesn't see the Ukrainian's desire for peace.
President Zelenskyj is not ready to talk about peace. But his problem is that time is not on his side. The American people's patience is not infinite, their wallets are not infinite.
