US media have reported that the war in Iran is causing the US stockpile of offensive and defensive missiles to run low. In a post on his Truth Social platform on Thursday, Trump lashed out at the reporting.
“The United States has enormous amounts of military equipment, especially of certain types,” Trump wrote without giving any details. Trump also wrote that those who leaked the information, which the president described as “treasonous,” are being hunted down and face “long prison sentences.”
According to The Washington Post, Trump confronted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about the dwindling weapons stockpiles during a Cabinet meeting at the Camp David residence last week. Two sources with knowledge of the matter told the newspaper that Hegseth blamed Deputy Defense Secretary Stephen Feinberg for Trump not being fully informed on the issue.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the newspaper's information false.
"I was at Camp David with President Trump and Secretary of Defense Hegseth. This literally never happened," Leavitt writes on X regarding the alleged confrontation.
