We have made real progress, serious progress, said Trump on Monday night Swedish time.
I believe we can get some good news on the Iran front, said Trump further as he boarded his presidential plane in New Jersey.
Representatives of Iran and the USA met in Rome for a fifth round of nuclear talks on Friday. According to Oman, which mediated in the talks, some progress was made but no decisive ones.
Trump has insisted that Iran cannot continue to enrich uranium in any form, in exchange for easing of the American sanctions against the country.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said before Friday's talks that enrichment of uranium is a must for Iran, otherwise "we have no deal".
"Zero nuclear weapons = we have an agreement. Zero enrichment = we have NO agreement", wrote Araghchi on X on Thursday.
