Two people survived when the US carried out air raids against a "narcotics boat" off Venezuela, says Donald Trump. According to the president, these are now to be deported.

The attack in the Caribbean Sea took place on the night against Friday and according to Trump, it was about a submarine that smuggled drugs.

"There were four known drug terrorists on board the ship. Two of these terrorists were killed. The two surviving terrorists will be sent back to their countries of origin, Ecuador and Colombia, where they will be deprived of their freedom and prosecuted", Trump writes in a post on Truth Social.

Over the past month, Washington has carried out at least six attacks on what is described as "drug boats" off the coast of Venezuela. In total, at least 30 people have been killed in the attacks.

On Wednesday, Trump gave the intelligence agency CIA the go-ahead to carry out secret operations inside Venezuela. The decision means a sharp escalation in terms of the US's attempts to put pressure on President Nicolás Maduro, who Trump accuses of being involved in drug smuggling to the US.
