Trump is open to extending his trip to get a meeting with the North Korean dictator, he tells reporters on board Air Force One.
I would very much like to meet him if he wants to see me, says the president according to AFP.
I got along very well with Kim Jong-Un. I liked him, he liked me.
Trump has also earlier in the week expressed interest in a meeting with Kim, whom he last met in 2019. The dictator has, however, demanded that North Korea be recognized as a nuclear power for renewed talks with the US. Over the weekend, Trump claimed that North Korea is "kind of" a nuclear power.
A South Korean security adviser, however, downplays the possibilities of a meeting between Trump and Kim.
I think it is very unlikely, says Oh Hyun-Joo according to the news agency EFE.
Trump's Asian tour is now on its way to Japan after an initial visit to Malaysia. After that, he will meet, among others, China's president Xi Jinping in South Korea on Thursday.
