Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, known as the poster girl for the Maga Movement, distances herself from the personal attacks that have been frequent during Donald Trump's time in the White House. "I humbly ask for forgiveness for being part of the toxic politics," she says. She also criticizes the president for not putting America first.

The news hit like a bombshell in political Washington DC: In an interview with CNN , a television channel Donald Trump has dismissed as “fake news,” Taylor Greene apologizes and promises to stop using “toxic” rhetoric. The Georgia politician also talks about her concerns that Trump’s actions against her could lead to violence.

"Those are the kinds of words that can radicalize people against me and put my life in danger," she says.

In recent days, President Trump has dismissed Taylor Greene as “weird,” “whiny,” and a “traitor,” especially after she ordered the release of all documents from the investigation into the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Want to bury the hatchet

When asked why Taylor Greene only criticizes such statements now, when they are directed at her, she replies that it is "justified criticism" and that she has "worked hard" to bury the hatchet in politics.

"It (toxic attacks) is very bad for our country," she says.

It's something I've thought about a lot, especially after the murder of (right-wing debater) Charlie Kirk.

Right-wing populist Marjorie Taylor Greene was elected to the House of Representatives in 2020 and quickly became known as a controversial member who, among other things, openly supported the conspiracy movement Qanon and spread false allegations of election fraud.

This action led to her being excluded from committee work, among other things. However, in 2021 she apologized after comparing the requirement to wear a face mask to the Holocaust.

Parked flight?

But in recent months she seems to have swung. She has criticized the Republicans' line on the health insurance issue, which was central to the budget process. In the interview withCNN , she accuses the president of not following his own doctrine of putting America first, in light of his recent many foreign trips.

I would have liked to see Air Force One parked on home soil and the White House constantly focusing on a domestic agenda that helps the American people once and for all.

Political analysts are wondering whether Taylor Greene's move could be a threat to the conservative Maga movement. However, Donald Trump, who formally distanced himself from her on Friday, does not seem worried.

"I don't think her life is in danger," he said after the interview aired.

Frankly, I don't think anyone cares about her.
