According to a message from the company, they received information from the US Department of the Interior on Monday evening that the construction can be resumed after it was stopped in mid-April by the US Interior Minister Doug Burgum.

As recently as this week, Equinor stated that they had not received any detailed explanation for why the project was stopped. The only reason given was that the previous administration had made hasty impact assessments.

On Tuesday, Equinor's CEO Anders Opedal thanked Donald Trump, reports Norwegian Dagens Näringsliv.

I want to thank President Trump for finding a solution that saves thousands of jobs and lays the foundation for further investments in the US industry, says Opedal.

He also thanks Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Finance Minister Jens Stoltenberg for "their help and support" over the past few weeks.

The wind farm Empire Wind, which is expected to be completed in 2027, will have a capacity of 810 megawatts and will be able to supply 500,000 households in New York with electricity.

The park is located in the sea 25 to 50 kilometers southeast of Long Island.
