Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the President of the United States, is set to be one of the financiers of a group called 1789 Equity, which is claimed to contribute two-digit million-dollar amounts to "The Enhanced Games".
The founder of the competition, Aron D'Souza, believes that the Olympic Games are a historical relic and that they are driven by a "gang of European aristocrats".
They are rooted in ancient Greece, says D'Souza.
Both the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the anti-doping organization Wada have previously rejected the idea of a sports championship where doping is allowed.
The first edition of the "doping-Olympic Games" will be held at a hotel and casino area in Las Vegas, USA, on May 21-24 next year.
Competitions will then be held in swimming (50 and 100 meters freestyle/butterfly, short course), athletics (100 meters and 100/110 meters hurdles), and weightlifting.
Australian swimmer James Magnussen – a three-time Olympic medalist (two in relay) – was last year one of the first to announce that he would take part. Since then, he has been joined by, for example, Greek Kristian Golomeev, who has swum four Olympic Games, most recently in Paris last summer.
The winners of each event will receive 2.4 million kronor, but if a participant breaks a world record time in swimming's short distances or in the 100 meters running, a bonus of approximately 9.5 million kronor awaits.
