The announcement comes from the US Air Force and represents another delay from the latest schedule, which was scheduled for delivery next year.
Aircraft manufacturer Boeing has encountered a number of problems during production, including technical problems with window panes and noise in the cabin.
The White House has not commented on the new announcement, but Trump pointed out back in February that "they can never get that damn thing done."
The original order was placed during Trump's first presidential term, with a delivery date set for December 2024. The Pentagon has paid $3.9 billion for both versions of Boeing's 747-8s.
