"FIFA would make a terrible mistake if, for any reason, they even considered replacing President Gianni Infantino," Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social on Tuesday night.
Infantino has been in a lot of trouble after the proposal to sell shares in championships to investors, where Joshua Kushner – brother of Trump's son-in-law – has been one of the interested parties.
To top it all off, he has also recently been accused of buying out a woman he had an affair with during his time as general secretary at Uefa, according to information from The Telegraph.
Now he is receiving praise from Trump, with whom he presented the World Cup trophy a few weeks ago.
"He is fantastic and has just led the most successful World Cup - four times as successful - ever organized. If he disappears, it will never be as successful or profitable again," Trump writes further.
During Infantino's time as FIFA president, Donald Trump was awarded the "FIFA Peace Prize." The president is the only recipient to date.
A large number of associations – including the Swedish Football Association – have announced that they do not support Infantino's re-election.
