USA's president Donald Trump expressed his discontent on Monday night over the latest Russian attack on Ukraine. At the same time, an EU delegation is coming to Washington for talks on sanctions against Russia. I am not satisfied. I am not satisfied with anything in that war, he says.

The American president met the press on Sunday night Swedish time and announced that he intends to talk to Russia's president Vladimir Putin after the extensive attack.

Very soon, within the next few days, he says according to several media outlets.

The attack on Ukraine during the night against Sunday is described as the largest Russian drone attack so far during the war. Wave after wave of deadly drones swept in over the entire Ukraine.

Kyiv was heavily affected. The government's seat in the capital was hit for the first time.

Trump has sought to broker peace in the war together with several European countries.

Some European leaders will come here on Monday or Tuesday and I think we can get it done, says Trump.

The EU's sanctions envoy David O'Sullivan will lead a delegation on Monday and Tuesday for a meeting on expanding coordination with the US on sanctions against Russia, according to an anonymous source.

Besides the size, the attack can be significant for the war in several ways. A targeted attack on the government building that was hit would be seen as a Russian escalation, since Moscow has previously avoided attacking the government quarters in the center.

The Russian defense department, however, continues its previous line, by claiming that they have not targeted any civilians at all. The attacks are claimed to be directed only against "parts of Ukraine's military-industrial complex and transport infrastructure", according to AFP.
