The Venetians are not impressed with Fertitta's 117-metre luxury yacht, which has a helipad and a swimming pool. Protesters lined up with banners and inflatable pool toys.
"It is arrogant to think he can do whatever he wants in a city that is increasingly being sold out to tourism alone," says Stella Morion, who organised the protests.
Morion opposes President Trump's foreign policy, saying the Iran war has led to higher energy prices.
Activist Emanuele Lepore says the visit is causing anger because they have long fought to ban luxury yachts in the older parts of Venice.
"Seeing such a large ship lying here is a shame," he says.
