USA's president Donald Trump says that he is "very dissatisfied" with Thursday's phone call with Russia's president Vladimir Putin about the war of aggression against Ukraine.

It is a very difficult situation, says Trump to reporters on board the presidential plane Air Force One.

He wants to go all the way, just keep killing people, it's not good.

Trump says that he and Putin spoke "a lot" about sanctions.

He (Putin) understands that it may be on the way.

After the phone call between Trump and Putin – which did not result in any breakthrough – Russia carried out bombing raids against Ukraine for several hours.

In parallel, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj states that he agrees with Trump on working to strengthen Ukraine's air defense. This after a phone call between the leaders on Friday which followed a surprising ceasefire from the US side.

Corrected: In an earlier version, an incorrect time specification for the phone call between Trump and Zelenskyj occurred.
