"The decision from the American court for international trade is so wrong and so political! Hopefully, the Supreme Court will overturn this terrible, nation-threatening decision, FAST and DECISIVELY", Trump on his platform Truth Social.

"If this is allowed, it would completely crush presidential power - The Presidency would never be the same!", Trump writes further.

Alleged Emergency Situation

It was on Thursday night, Swedish time, that a panel of three federal judges in the US court for international trade announced their decision to block Trump's import tariffs against many trading partners, including the EU.

The Trump government appealed the decision and late on Thursday, a higher court announced that the tariffs will continue to apply until the legal process is settled in a higher instance.

Tariffs usually need to be approved by Congress, but Trump has claimed that he has the authority to act since the US trade deficit constitutes a national emergency.

However, according to the trade court, the 1977 law on international economic emergency powers does not include measures such as tariffs. And even if the law had done so, the US trade deficit does not constitute an "unusual and extraordinary threat".

"Radical Left-Wing Judges"

The court thus ruled out Trump's presidential decree for lacking legal support.

"This decision is celebrated all over the world by everyone, except the USA. Radical left-wing judges, together with some very bad people, are destroying America", Trump writes on Friday night.

"Under this decision, our country would lose trillions of dollars, money that would MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. It would be the toughest economic decision ever made against us as a sovereign nation", he continues.
