The ceasefire between Israel and the terrorist-stamped Hamas in Gaza is still in effect, says US President Donald Trump to reporters.

The statement comes after Israel carried out a series of attacks in the Gaza Strip. Both Hamas and Israel have accused each other of violating the ceasefire.

According to the Israeli military, two Israeli soldiers were killed and three were injured in two separate incidents in an area still controlled by the Israeli military on Sunday.

A Hamas delegation met with Qatari and Egyptian officials in Cairo on Monday to discuss the continued maintenance of the fragile ceasefire.

”Rebels” blamed

According to Trump, the Hamas leadership was not involved in breaking the ceasefire. Instead, Trump blames "rebels" within the movement.

Regardless of what happens, it will be handled properly, says Trump.

Hamas has rejected the allegations and claims that they have nothing to do with the incidents.

Israel announced on Sunday evening that they will return to maintaining the ceasefire, after the country initially decided to stop humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Netanyahu avoids interrogation

Trump's son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner says in an interview with CBS 60 Minutes that Israel must start helping the Palestinians.

The most important message we have tried to convey to the Israeli leadership is that now that the war is over – if you want to integrate Israel with the broader Middle East – you have to find a way to help the Palestinian people thrive and do better, he says.

Kushner and the US special envoy Steve Witkoff arrive in Israel on Monday, while Vice President JD Vance is expected on Tuesday, according to a US official to The Times of Israel. The purpose of the visit is reportedly to meet with Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to push forward Washington's framework for the ceasefire in Gaza.

The Jerusalem District Court has, due to the visits, postponed Netanyahu's planned testimony this week. Netanyahu was to testify in his ongoing corruption trial, where he is charged with bribery, fraud, and breach of trust.
