"I would love to meet him. We will probably meet at some point, depending on how everything goes," Trump said of Mojtaba Khamenei on the New York Post podcast Pod Force One.
Mojtaba Khamenei, whose father Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed on the first day of the war, has not been seen in public since he was appointed the new Supreme Leader of Iran.
In the podcast, Trump says he is optimistic about reaching an agreement with Iran "fairly soon," despite the US and Iran exchanging attacks almost daily.
The president also claims that Iran has agreed not to acquire nuclear weapons. Tehran has long denied that the regime is pursuing nuclear weapons, but is believed to possess highly enriched uranium required for weapons production.
"We will have no nuclear weapons and a lot of other good things will happen," Trump says.
