We expect President Trump to have a wonderful conversation about trade negotiations this week with President Xi, says Hassett in ABC News program "This Week."
After negotiations in May, the world's two largest economies agreed to put the extremely high levels of tariffs on pause for 90 days to make room for negotiations.
But in recent days, it has started to creak in the joints and the tone between Beijing and Washington has frozen.
On Friday, the US Finance Minister Scott Bessent also described the tariff talks with China as "a bit stalled".
Kevin Hassett now emphasizes that the American and Chinese negotiating delegations talk to each other every day to "try to get the ball rolling on this issue".
Hassett says at the same time that he is not sure if a specific date for the presidents' conversation is set.
But it has been discussed that the two will talk about the Geneva agreement, which we are all very positively inclined towards.
