”The Environmental Administration has now received all test results taken at a restaurant on Östermalm in connection with the listeria outbreak. The results for the six different samples with truffle (which were delivered, prepared and frozen in July) show that all contain listeria in higher levels”, writes Lovisa Grimsell, communicator at the Environmental Administration in the City of Stockholm, in an email.
Kajsa Eriksson, unit manager for food control, says that they are tracing where the truffle was purchased and produced, through an international warning system.
In that way, they can be made aware of this and in turn send it further, she says.
Has the restaurant done anything wrong?
We have not been able to determine that it is something they have done wrong. We have seen that it has existed in their business and it has spread to different places.
Since the truffle was prepared in the premises, it is also not possible to determine with certainty that the raw material is the source of infection.
Further measures will now be taken within the framework of the investigation, including the National Food Agency and the Public Health Agency will make comparative analyses between the type of listeria that has been found in those who have fallen ill and the samples found by the Environmental Administration. It is expected to take about a month.
It was at the end of September that the extensive listeria outbreak occurred at Coco & Carmen. Over 150 people sought care at hospitals in the Stockholm region.
