The background is a picture published by Sarah Dzafce, who was crowned Miss Finland in September, where she uses her fingers to pull the skin around her eyes to the side to create a caricature of Asians.
Dzafce was stripped of his title after the incident and apologized to the "Asian community."
However, the scandal has grown since members of parliament Juho Eerola and Kaisa Garedew, as well as MEP Sebastian Tynkkynen, reacted by posting similar images.
All three represent the True Finns Party, one of the four parties that govern in coalition.
"I do not accept racism in any form. Now I trust that the True Finns parliamentary group will treat this with the seriousness required," says Prime Minister Petteri Orpo (Coalition Party), according to Hufvudstadsbladet .
On Tuesday, the parliamentary groups of the governing parties also condemned in a joint statement what they describe as "offensive posts that tear society apart and damage Finland's reputation," the newspaper reports.
The True Finns Party announces that they will decide on possible consequences for the politicians involved on Thursday.
The government has been rocked by several racism scandals involving True Finns politicians since it took office in 2023. In early autumn, the budget negotiations were overshadowed by a statement from the party's deputy chairman Teemu Keskisarja in which he described immigrants as people of lower "quality".
