The company that arranged the Ski World Championship had counted on a surplus of 15 million kronor. Instead, it was the opposite.

It was not what Tove Moe Dyrhaug, chairman of the Norwegian Ski Association, had hoped for. In an email to Adresseavisen, she writes that the association received reports of a surplus and good control during the championship.

"We in the ski association received the message with great disappointment. This will have serious and long-term consequences, not just economic but also regarding our reputation", writes the ski chairman in an email to Adresseavisen.

The World Championship company is owned 60 percent by the Norwegian Ski Association and 30 percent by the lower organizational level Sør-Trøndelags ski district. The last 10 percent is owned by Trondheim municipality.

It is still not known how large the deficit will be. For comparison, the result the last time Norway arranged a Ski World Championship, 2011 in Oslo, was a surplus of 68 million kronor.
