It was already clear a few weeks ago that Alexander-Arnold, after 20 years in Liverpool, would leave the club when his contract expired.
And it has long been a poorly kept secret that it would be Real Madrid that would become the 26-year-old's next club address.
Now it is officially confirmed that he will join the club. But he is doing it a month in advance.
The contract with Liverpool does not expire until June 30, but the clubs have reached an agreement so that the right-back can play the World Championship with his new club. The tournament starts on June 14.
Alexander-Arnold has been heavily criticized by supporters since the rumors began to circulate for the way he is leaving his parent club. Many have argued that it is disrespectful to sit out the current contract and then leave on a free transfer, which means that Liverpool will not receive any transfer fee for one of its top players.
Several credible reports, however, claim that Liverpool will now get at least a small consolation, as Alexander-Arnold leaves early.
According to The Athletic, the club will receive ten million euros, equivalent to approximately 109 million kronor, for the full-back.
Alexander-Arnold won, among other things, double Premier League titles and a Champions League with Liverpool.
