William Karlsson, 32, should be considered a top candidate. The Center was picked for the squad for Four Nations last winter but was forced to decline due to injury and was replaced by Rickard Rakell.
Karlsson came back strong after the injury problems and has personally had a successful Stanley Cup.
With Vegas being eliminated from the playoffs against Edmonton on Thursday night, Karlsson is available – if he wants to.
Club teammate Victor Olofsson was part of the team that took VM-bronze in Ostrava and can also receive an invitation to finish the season with Tre Kronor.
Fateful Match for Nylander
If Toronto loses the next match, point king William Nylander will become available – and will, of course, be a massive addition if he joins.
Veteran defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson is also a name that becomes relevant if Toronto is eliminated.
On Friday night, Washington must reduce against Carolina, otherwise, this year's Stanley Cup is over for Capitals. If that happens, Rasmus Sandin is on Tre Kronor's list of players to call. The defenseman has played 91 matches for Washington this season and would sharpen the team.
Tre Kronor has gone around with 21 players so far. The trio Gabriel Carlsson, Christoffer Ehn, and Max Friberg have been on site throughout the tournament in Stockholm but have not been reported to the squad.
Ice in the Stomach
With four places open, Sam Hallam and his colleagues can have ice in their stomachs, but the question is how long they want to wait. Formally, a player can be reported as late as two hours before the final.
We want to keep it open, but we won't do that. We'll have to wait a bit for the results in the next 24 hours, then we'll see. But we don't want to close that door either.
It sounds boring, but it's a bit like we've said from the start – that it's day by day, Hallam told Swedish media after the 6–0 win against Latvia on Wednesday.
Tre Kronor meets Slovenia on Friday, match five in a group play where Sweden has won all matches so far.
