This is stated by the County Administrative Board in Blekinge, which, together with IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, carried out sampling along the coast outside Sölvesborg in May. The highest levels were found in the Spraglehall nature reserve – despite the fact that traces of the oil spill are hardly visible there.
"This means that livestock will no longer be allowed to graze on the beach meadows in the southern parts of the nature reserve and thus the landscape will not be kept as open as before", says Fredrik Andreasson, environmental chemist at the County Administrative Board in Blekinge in a press release.
In parts of the area, a ban on staying still applies. The oil spill will affect people, animals, and nature for a long time to come, according to the County Administrative Board.
