President Donald Trump's actions, both political and economic, have scared off European tourists.
Visitors from Western Europe who stayed away for at least one night in the USA fell by 17 percent in March, compared to the same month last year, writes Financial Times, whose figures are taken from the International Trade Administration.
From certain countries such as Norway, Denmark, and Germany, the decline is even greater. Swedish tourists have reduced travel by around 17-18 percent, according to the statistics.
Perhaps parts of the decline can be explained by the fact that Easter, which is a major travel holiday, was in March last year.
Tourism is an important part of the USA's economy and accounts for 2.5 percent of the country's GDP.
