Toronto won the first quarterfinal against Florida 5–4. But it was a victory considering the concern for Anthony Stolarz's well-being.
It's hard to see. You never want to see a teammate feel so bad, says Joseph Woll, the goalkeeper who replaced Stolarz barely halfway into the match, according to nhl.com.
It was in a chaotic situation in front of the goal that Florida's forward Sam Bennett was in close contact with Stolarz's head, possibly with an elbow. Stolarz continued to play, but during a commercial break, Stolarz went out to the bench where he vomited and was then carried out on a stretcher.
The coach doesn't want to confirm that the goalkeeper was taken to the hospital but says:
He's being examined right now, says Berube according to Toronto Sun.
There is a risk that Stolarz got a concussion and he may be out for a while.
Bennett was not ejected during the incident.
It was a clear elbow to the head, says Berube, who doesn't want to say if he thinks Bennett should be suspended.
It's not up to me, it's up to the league. It's their job to do what's necessary.
The next quarterfinal match is played on Thursday night Swedish time.
