Sydney Schertenleib (Switzerland), 18, midfielder, Barcelona.

One of three 18-year-olds in national team captain Pia Sundhage's championship squad. The European Championship's youngest player – born in January 2007 – is one of the players that the host nation Switzerland hopes for the most. Midfielder by nature, but Sundhage would rather use her in the attack.

Vicky Lopez (Spain), 18, midfielder, Barcelona.

Another one of the talents from Barcelona's youth activities. Has had a strong season in Barcelona behind her and has started to make a name for herself in the national team as well, even if she probably will start on the bench. One of the best players when Spain won the U20 World Championship 2022.

Smilla Holmberg (Sweden), 18, defender, Hammarby.

The right-back has been praised for her performances in the women's all-Swedish league and made her national team debut in the tough away match against Italy in June. Got to start in the dress rehearsal against Norway last time. Has impressed national team captain Peter Gerhardsson not least with her speed.

Wieke Kaptein (Netherlands), 19, midfielder, Chelsea.

Was expected to be loaned out from Chelsea last summer, but stayed and became an important component when the London club took the domestic triple. Already has over 20 international matches on her merit list and is an important cog in the Dutch midfield.

Ellen Wangerheim (Sweden), 20, forward, Hammarby.

Is tipped by many to become the next Swedish attacking star and is rumored to have several major clubs after her. Had a fine spring in the women's all-Swedish league and was rewarded with a place in the European Championship squad. Strong not least in the air.

Salma Paralluelo (Spain), 21, midfielder, Barcelona.

Already a world star with a World Championship gold and two Champions League titles on her merit list. The goal-scoring Barcelona midfielder was named the best young player when Spain took the World Championship gold in 2023 and is one of the pre-favorites for the corresponding title in the European Championship.

Aggie Beever-Jones (England), 21, forward, Chelsea.

The Chelsea forward is one of the young players who is tipped to be able to make her big breakthrough during the European Championship. Admittedly relatively new to the national team level, but made a hat-trick against Portugal in the Nations League recently.

Carrie Jones (Wales), 21, midfielder, IFK Norrköping.

Made her debut for Wales just over a week before her 16th birthday. After playing in England, she moved to Norrköping last summer. One of the players who must perform at the top if the championship debutant Wales is to have a chance in the tough group D.

Alice Sombath (France), 21, defender, Lyon.

Has gained experience alongside the star Wendy Renard in Lyon's central defense. Maybe the one who will take care of Renard's place now that the veteran is not included? Also relevant as a right-back.

Cecilía Rán Rúnarsdóttir (Iceland), 21, goalkeeper, Bayern Munich (last season loaned to Inter).

Made her national team debut as a 16-year-old. The Icelander, with a past in among others Kif Örebro, was named the best goalkeeper in Serie A last season.
