On Wednesday evening, at 8:00 pm, the Tre Kronor squad will be announced in TV broadcasts in North America and on Viaplay.
The six first names were presented already last summer before the first tournament with NHL teams since the World Cup 2016.
The tournament – with the official name 4 Nations Face-off – will be played in February in North America and Sweden, Finland, Canada, and the USA will participate in this mini-World Championship.
Finland's squad will also be presented on Wednesday evening, while Canada and the USA's will be announced during the night towards Thursday.
+ Selected players.
Six players in each team got the green light already last summer. In Sweden's case, the defenders Erik Karlsson, Victor Hedman, and Gustav Forsling, as well as the forwards Filip Forsberg, Mika Zibanejad, and William Nylander, have been selected.
The squads will consist of 23 players (20 outfield players and 3 goalkeepers) and Hallam has been considering taking out 7 defenders and 13 forwards.
So far this season, 78 Swedes have played in the NHL – so a lot of profiles will be left out.
+ Form concerns.
Already selected profiles like Erik Karlsson, Mika Zibanejad, and Filip Forsberg have had a tough start to the NHL season.
In Karlsson's case, so tough that former national team captain Johan Garpenlöv, Radiosporten's new expert, questioned the selection.
Will the superstars find their form?
+ They have shone.
A lot of Swedish stars have shone. Not least New Jersey's Jesper Bratt, who is the top-scoring Swede with 35 points (12 goals + 23 assists), and Toronto's William Nylander, who is the top goal-scorer with 15 goals.
Bratt is in fifth place in the NHL's scoring league and Nylander is tied for fifth in the goal-scoring league.
Last spring's World Championship goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson, Minnesota, leads the goalkeeper league in both save percentage (92.9) and goals conceded per game (2.05).
Victor Hedman is tied for fourth in the defenders' scoring league with 22 points (4 + 18).
+ Which young players are fighting for spots?
Lucas Raymond, 22, is a given in the squad, and Leo Carlsson, 19, is an upcoming star to bet on. Defender Philip Broberg, 23, and forward William Eklund, 22, have gone strong points-wise during the autumn.
+ How far do World Championship performances count?
Sweden took bronze in the last World Championship in the Czech Republic with its best team in many years. How far do good World Championship performances count for players who are no longer scoring points in the NHL? Minnesota veteran Marcus Johansson, 34, shone in the spring, but is there room for him?
