TikTok is on the verge of reaching a settlement in a lawsuit over allegedly addictive social media platforms that is set to be held in Los Angeles soon. Initially, four tech giants were accused of deliberately designing their platforms to be addictive and harmful to young people and children.
Last week, Snapchat's parent company Snap entered into a settlement. Details of the settlement have not been made public.
The trial against Instagram owner Meta and YouTube owner Google, which have not reached settlements, will continue as planned.
TikTok has been sued in similar cases in about a dozen US states.
