The government and the Sweden Democrats say they want to secure increased defense spending and prudent management of state funds.

A new investigation and "waste commission" will therefore be appointed, Finance Minister Elisabeth Svantesson (M) announced.

We should not collect more taxes than necessary, she says, emphasizing that future reforms should not be financed by higher taxes on work or savings.

Minister for Civil Affairs Erik Slottner (KD) says he sees "great potential to shut down or merge more agencies."

Åke Nordlander, Director General of the Export Credit Board, has been appointed special investigator. The assignment is to submit a final report no later than 21 January 2028.
