Consumers have felt cheated by the three companies - Cheap Energy AB, Stockholms Elbolag AB and Svealands Elbolag AB - that promised discounts and good prices that expire after twelve months, the Swedish Consumer Agency writes in a press release.
"It is not clear that the price of electricity increases significantly after one year," writes the Swedish Consumer Agency.
If the three companies do not correct their marketing, they could be sentenced to pay a fine of two million kronor each, according to the ruling.
The three companies are part of the Elify group, whose subsidiary Stockholms Elbolag AB was previously convicted in court of pretending to call from consumers' existing electricity suppliers.
